Week 5 Day 3

Up fairly early this morning for a holiday. Happy birthday GouGou, our dog turns six today in human years, that’s thirty in dog years.  I made Panda breakfast – pre-cooked brown rice, chicken breast shredded, qing cai (Chinese greens), and the whites of three eggs all boiled together with three ladles full of whey and a bit of soy sauce.  Panda ate it.  Pronounced it very tasty.  I added a spoonful of cottage cheese to mine.  The cottage cheese I made last night is three quarters gone already.

Ruth did her time on the elliptical.  We started to watch a clip that Elaine sent us about our body clock, but I felt too sleepy and went back to bed when Ruth went for her shower.  It’s now five to noon and I need to get on that machine and crank out my wakeup calories.  Back soon.

588 calories in my 31 minutes.  A nice relaxed workout while watching a very depressing movie about the collapse of all social-economic systems.  I don’t buy it, but we’re talking about it.

Dinner was frozen tofu boiled in whey with leftover greens.  Microwaved potatoes with cottage cheese.  The tofu acquired a strange spongy texture due to being frozen. Ruth said she often froze tofu on purpose so that she could squeeze it out and have it soak up flavors when marinaded.  I can’t say I’m a fan of the spongy texture, but maybe I’d get used to it.  The dinner was okay.  Nothing I’d be in a hurry to repeat, but okay.

I’m ready for the rest of the week now.  Cooked up some more skinless chicken breasts, this time boiled in whey.  Made a fresh batch of cottage cheese.  Ruth just put together a snack of dry french bread, tomato slice, and cottage cheese.  Mmmmnnnn.  Good.
