Phase 2 Week 5 Day 1

Toxic.  Must get on the machine.  This is the first day of being SERIOUSLY back on the program.

561 calories on the elliptical this morning.  But then Gloria came over and made us very oily Chinese food.  Now we’re off to the temple market and Starbucks.

Okay, not great again this evening.  Ate a fruit centered moon cake instead of dinner, plus two small and very stale chocolates that were left on my desk during cheater day yesterday.  I seem to have lost my will power and motivation.  How to get them back?  Working on it.

Phase 2 Week 4 Day 7 Cheater Day (undeserved)

Okay, it’s undeserved but I’m taking it anyway.

Peanut butter and banana sandwich for breakfast.  Saw my sister off for Canada this morning at eight.  Followed by a magnum ice cream bar.  Beef with noodles and two fried eggs for lunch.  Classes over for the day (yes, classes on a Saturday due to the impending holiday that is now full on.)  I just had a gin and tonic and we’re off to a barbecue with the other teachers.

Tomorrow.  I promise.  Tomorrow for sure.

Okay, party with all the teachers last night.  Not too much bad food, just a couple of cheese burgers, but two Breezers and a couple of tall CC and Coke.  It was a cheater day all right.

Phase 2 Week 4 Day 6 Weigh in Friday

Dateline: Wuxi, China Friday September 28

I weighed in this morning at  96.3kg = 212lb 4.9oz
My last weigh in was  96.3kg = 212lb 4.9oz, exactly the same as last week.  Aaaarrrrgggghhhh.

Ruth weighed in at 65.2kg = 143lb 11.9oz
Ruth’s lasts weigh in was 65.4kg = 144lb 2.9oz
So she’s down another .2 kg.

Another day without doing the machine, and and and… We went for a walk and I bought a bag of hong shu pi (sweet potato chips) and a pita pocket for lunch. I had a gin and tonic this afternoon.  Okay, time to remotivate.

Dinner was off program again, and included greet tea biscuits.  I think it’s time to recognize that I am just not on the program.  How do I get back on it.

After Catherine leaves for home tomorrow morning.  She’s been a baaaad influence.

 

Phase 2 Week 4 Day 3

Dateline Wuxi, China, Tuesday September 25, 2012

543 on the elliptical in 31 minutes – low number again caused by learning the new Chinese song, which really takes the pain out of the workout.  I almost have it down now.  A few hundred more times through it…

We’re going out for a hotpot dinner tonight.  Hopefully I can keep it on program more or less.

I think I may have bumped into the 80-20 rules with this body transplant program.  That rule states that the last 20 % of your results to your goal take 80% of the effort.  I may have to double down on this diet thing if I ever want the flab off my belly.

But this certainly didn’t start this evening.  The hotpot dinner was not too bad, though the soup was very rich and oily.  But the icecream bar, and the glasses of sweet plum juice cooled with Popsicles certainly wasn’t permitted on my program.  Yikes.  I’ll never lose the belly flab this way.

Phase 2 Week 4 already Day 1 Off to a Bad Start

534 on the elliptical in about 30 minutes.

I got off to turn on the fan, and thought I had paused the count down.  But when I got back on I’d done about a minute with no exercising.  And I was playing with learning a Chinese song on my IPad, hence the low score.

We were up late last night.  Then I had to get up early this morning to make sure my sister got to her teacher’s meeting (Yes, Sunday morning, welcome to China sis.)  I had a cup of sugared instant coffee to keep me going through that, and when I got home I went back to bed for a couple of hours.  Not starting Week 4 with energy and enthusiasm.

Phase 2 Week 3 Day 7 Cheater Day

Yeah.  I had a glass of wine last night, so I don’t deserve the cheater day today.  But what the hell.  I started off with a Four Circle ice cream bar before I even got up.

Now I need to hang up my laundry and get on the elliptical.  Then I’m thinking peanut butter and banana sandwich for breakfast.

545 on the elliptical.  Man, I’m really flagging.

The peanut butter and bananas open faced sandwiches were tasty, as was the pulled pork lunch.

Phase 2 Week 3 Day 6 Weigh In Friday

Ruth’s last weigh in was 65.7 = 144lb 13.5oz
Today’s weigh in  for Ruth was 65.4kg = 144lb 2.9oz
So Ruth is down  .3kg = 10.6oz

Zale’s last weigh in two weeks ago was 96.5 kg = 212lb 11.9oz
This morning my weight 96.3kg = 212lb 4.9oz
So I’m down .2kg = .4lbs or 7oz.

My best weight before going to Canada was:  94.9 = 209.2 lbs.
starting weight 109.6 – 94.9 = 14.7kg or 32.4 lbs. total loss before the summer

So I’m still a couple of pounds short of the weight I got to before the summer, and this isn’t surprising.  With my sister visiting, birthday parties, and a general lack of strict adherence to the program, it’s surprising I’ve lost anything.

Ruth is just happy that she hasn’t gained anything, because she’s also not been strict on the program.

My only regret about this is that my birthday is coming up and I wanted a six pack by October 22.  The window of opportunity to achieve that is slipping away.  But then, what’s a six pack all about anyway.  Looking like I do as I turn 65 is not going to be a tragedy.

Slept in this morning because I could.  Time to get on the elliptical machine.

570 on the elliptical.  That didn’t change my weight at all, at least not with the scale we have at our disposal.
