Phase 2 Week 19 Day 7 Cheater Day

Dateline Wuxi, China, Saturday January 12, 2013

No exercise machine today.  Instead we rode our bikes all the way downtown, about two and a half hours of riding, and all the way home after dark which took as another two and a half hours.  In between going and coming we stopped at Starbucks and I had a lan mei meifan and a chicken ceasar wrat and my usual venti latte, while Ruth had her raison scone and hot water.  Then we went on to the Blue Bar where I had three rather small margaritas and a plate of fish and chips with salad.  The Blue Bar is generous with their fish pieces.  Three large deep fried pieces of fish.  A bit soft, but very tasty.Sometime during the ride I’ve also consumed a bag of Smarties and several small coffee crisp bars.  And then when we got home I had a Breezer and quite a few walnuts and macadamia nuts before we took the dog for a bike run and I picked up a large caramel machiato seriously laced with scotch.  That’s what I’m sipping right now.

All in all, a good cheater day.

Phase 2 Week 19 Day 6 Weigh in Friday

Dateline Wuxi, China, Friday January 11, 2013

Weigh in Friday and Ruth is still going in the wrong direction.  Up to 64.1 from 63.7kg

I’m at least heading back down, though minimally.  Down to 94.6 from 95.4

So I’m down .8kg to 94.6  Okay.

And then 590 calories on the elliptical, in my 31 minutes.  As expected it got rid of my neck and back tension and headache.  Mostly.  Now I’m dripping sweat again and need a shower.

Phase 2 Week 19 Day 5 time flying past

Dateline Wuxi, China, Thursday January 10, 2013

No exercise for the past two days, unless you count riding our bikes around campus.  We were working, invigilating the exit tests.  Love that pompous word.

This morning I did 604 calories on the elliptical trainer in 31 minutes.  Then we rode our bike to Auchan shopping center for groceries and I cooked up a delicious salmon, brown rice, broccoli and squash with home made cottage cheese for dinner.

A good day, except I’m sitting here sipping on huang jiu late into the night.

Phase 2 Week 18 Day 7 Cheater Day I Don’t Deserve (but I’m taking it anyway)

Dateline Wuxi, China, Saturday January 4, 2013

Started the day with two slices of bread with butter, peanut butter and banana slices.  It’s a cheater day.

But then I did 616 calories on the elliptical trainer, which is not shabby at all.

Yesterday was a good day, except for the short shot of spiced rum just before I went to bed.  Did I really enjoy that?  Yeah, I really did.

Phase 2 Week 18 Day 6 Rats, Weigh in Friday

Dateline Wuxi, China, Friday January 4, 2013

Did not post yesterday.  Did not exercise.  Went out last night and drank far too much hot saki while scarfing down lots of butter fried Japanese food.  Very high protein meal, which was it’s only good point.

Weigh in this morning:

Ruth weighed in at 63.7 up from 63.3 last week

I weighed in at a discouraging 95.4 up from 94.7 last week and an all time high since we started listing our weights on the white board and my lowest was 93.0  So over the holiday season and past it I’m up 2.4 kg  and that is not the direction I want to be going.  Must put the brakes on this.

Phase 2 Week 18 Day 4 And We’re Into the Year

Dateline Wuxi, China, Wednesday January 02, 2013

No elliptical again this morning.  We were up very early and rode our bikes to the South gate to meet Gloria who took us downtown to Number 2 hospital to have the spot on my face checked and Ruth’s bumps looked at.

Maybe I’ll get on the machine later, after some sleep.

And yes, after my nap this afternoon I did get on the machine.  604 calories in 31 minutes while I watched the first half of “Why We Fight”, a documentary about the military-industrial complex.  Scary stuff.

Phase 2 Week 18 Day 3 New Years Day

Dateline Wuxi, China, Tuesday January 01, 2013

No exercise today on the elliptical.  Instead we rode our bikes to Da Run Fa and had an hour massage.  Then we went on to Wanda and I got a Starbucks latte before we rode home.  That’s about 90 minutes of bike riding, and I was working up a sweat both ways so I think it is at least the equivalent of my usual 31 minutes on the pao bu ji, even though I didn’t sweat quite as much.
